Casa dos Ventos and Ascenty Announce the Largest Energy Contract for Data Centers in Latin America
Agreement worth over half a billion dollars and 110 average megawatts strengthens the union between technology and sustainability
Casa dos Ventos, a leading company in renewable energy and a key player in Brazil’s energy transition, and Ascenty, the largest data center company in Latin America, have just signed the largest renewable energy self-production contract for data centers in the region. The agreement, worth more than half a billion dollars, provides for the supply of 110 average megawatts (MWm).
The contractual model establishes Ascenty’s equity participation in two Casa dos Ventos projects. Both are under development and scheduled to begin operations in 2027. Together, the projects will have an installed capacity of more than 1.5 GW.
For Casa dos Ventos, the partnership reinforces the company’s expansion into the data center segment—a rapidly growing market that demands clean, stable, and long-term energy solutions. The agreement consolidates the company’s position as a leading energy supplier for this sector and strengthens its role in Brazil’s energy transformation.
“Ascenty operates in a sector that is at the heart of digital transformation. Providing renewable energy through this agreement highlights Casa dos Ventos’ role in supporting new infrastructure and innovation demands in the country. Our partnership was built on the complementarity of renewable energy sources, supply robustness, and a long-term vision,” says Lucas Araripe, Executive Director at Casa dos Ventos.
The structure of the agreement, with different renewable sources, increases operational flexibility and contributes to more robust energy planning for Ascenty throughout the contract term. The partnership with Casa dos Ventos will enable the company to avoid emitting approximately 5 million tons of CO₂ in the coming years.
“This initiative represents the strengthening of our decarbonization strategy. The combination of renewable energy sources and the security of long-term supply offers greater predictability for the growth of our operations across Latin America,” says Christopher Torto, CEO of Ascenty, who was advised by Clean Energy Latin America (CELA) on this project. “For us, working with clean and renewable energy means enabling new digital capabilities. By aligning energy efficiency with technological innovation, we create the foundation for our data centers to support the scalable potential of artificial intelligence, driving advanced solutions for clients and strategic sectors in the region,” concludes the executive.
