Ascenty expands 60 MW São Paulo campus as SPO05 begins operations and SPO06 construction advances
New facility begins operations with R$300 million investment, while adjacent project foresees an additional R$600 million and capacity expansion to support high‑density applications, including AI
Ascenty, a joint venture between Digital Realty and Brookfield Infrastructure and the largest provider of data center and connectivity services in Latin America, announces the start of operations of the SPO05 data center, located in the Greater São Paulo area, as well as the construction of SPO06 on the same campus. SPO05 was announced in July 2025 and represents an investment of R$300 million. SPO06 is scheduled to be inaugurated in May 2027, with an estimated investment of R$600 million. Together, the two data centers will deliver a total capacity of 26 MW.
The new facilities were designed to support everything from traditional enterprise workloads to high‑density environments focused on advanced computing, including Artificial Intelligence applications. The projects are aligned with the company’s strategy to expand its infrastructure with a strong focus on scalability, operational efficiency, and support for emerging digital demands.
“This move expands the capacity of our São Paulo campus and reinforces our long‑term vision for Brazil, delivering robust, highly connected infrastructure prepared to support next‑generation applications such as artificial intelligence,” says Marcos Siqueira, CRO and Head of Strategy at Ascenty.
The campus expansion is part of Ascenty’s continuous investment cycle throughout its nearly 16 years of operations in Brazil. During this period, the company has invested more than R$8 billion in the country and currently operates 38 data centers, with 26 in operation and 12 under construction and/or development.
All of Ascenty’s infrastructure is interconnected through its own 4,000‑kilometer fiber‑optic network, directly connecting its data centers to the main submarine cables in Latin America. The company is carrier‑neutral, enabling connectivity with any operator, and also offers Digital Realty’s ServiceFabric® orchestration platform, which interconnects its data centers with more than 500 global facilities, both proprietary and third‑party.
On the environmental front, the new data centers follow Ascenty’s sustainability guidelines, a commitment upheld since the company’s founding. The facilities use closed‑loop cooling systems that do not consume water in the cooling process; water use is limited exclusively to support areas such as restrooms and pantries.
This approach ensures greater operational efficiency and prevents waste. Ascenty is also certified as carbon neutral, operates with an average PUE below the market average, and maintains a WUE of zero, an indicator that measures water usage in data centers.
“Ascenty operates all of its data centers with 100% renewable energy. We have also recently signed, with Casa dos Ventos, the largest renewable energy self‑generation contract for data centers in Latin America. The agreement, valued at more than half a billion dollars, provides for the supply of 110 average megawatts. Both the SPO05 and SPO06 projects strictly adhere to these standards,” Siqueira concludes.
